Postcards From:
Peloponnese with Lisa-Marie Mewes

Meet Lisa-Marie Mewes, known for her lust worthy style and envious travel escapades alongside her partner Tim, who she shares a joint Instagram account with.

Join us as we set sail and meet Lisa in her new home away from home in the Mediterranean.

Explore Lisa’s early career beginnings, what drives her creativity, her secret haunts in Peloponnese and balancing life between Greece and Italy.

Describe your journey so far

I started working in the fashion industry very early, at the age of 17. I studied Fashion Design in Germany, then did my master's degree in Milan in Fashion Communication and Styling. My thesis was published by Vogue Italia and also in the book of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

I assisted in pretty big shows and magazine shoots. Tim and I have always shared an Instagram and worked on content production for brands, and received invitations to fashion shows, events, and art fairs.

We are humbled to work with some of the biggest fashion houses, lifestyle brands, and hotels in the world such as Bvlgari, Armani, Calvin Klein, Perrier-Jouët and Soho House.

What drives your creativity and inspires you the most?

Nature. Feeling the elements. I loooove to walk barefoot, on muddy earth, the beach, grass… Swimming in the sea is therapeutic. Listening to the wind and seeing our long white curtains dance in the breeze. Long al fresco lunches or dinners with Tim.

Art in general, which can be a good book, a magazine like Self Service or Holiday Magazine. Huge fan of Art Basel and Design Miami! I have to say gardening and harvesting citrus fruits is pretty inspiring too.

What do you love about where you live in Peloponnese?

It’s just really beautiful to be super close to my Greek family. I felt a very strong desire to have a summer home in the place where my roots are and explore this feeling a little deeper. My grandfather is from the Mani in the Peloponnese and the energy around this place is unmatched.

The nature there is incredible. Crystal clear water, tiny taverns, fresh fish that arrives literally straight from the fishermens' boats to the taverns.

I really love living the farm-to-table and boat-to-table life. Also, it's very close to Athens so you can always go to the city if you want!

Peninsula life is a really great life.

Best addresses to eat, shop and play in Peloponnese?

I highly recommend Amanzoe which gives you a pretty good idea of the Peloponnese and where we live! Our favorite place / area is the island Hydra and the Mani. Just go and get lost in these places.

There is no right or wrong and you truly can't go wrong with any tavern either, I promise that!

Hydra has beautiful little boutiques and you can do some great pottery shopping like antique vases around the Peloponnese.

How does your style transform between Greece and Italy?

In Greece, I’d say 100% resortwear or just denim shorts with big shirts.

In Milan we can get quite dressy, it's a very elegant, fashionable and cool place with beautiful restaurants and bars.

Love a good blazer, flares, and heels in Milan.

What do you love most about your summer home in Greece?

Probably the fact that we created it. It's tucked on a hill between the olive groves in the middle of nature. 5 minutes from the most beautiful beaches and we own various citrus trees. It has incredible bright light throughout and waking up to chirping crickets makes me zen.

Design-wise our kitchen is my absolute highlight. The light yellow colour and the fact that it's completely handmade definitely turns it into a big art piece. I look at it like I would a painting or statue; with pure appreciation for the artist who created it.

What moments in life are you most fulfilled?

When I swim in the sea, pick up fresh food at a local market or eat in the tiniest tavern while I rest my feet in the sand, in the company of Tim, my family, and friends.

Also, I’d truly say the most fulfilling thing is to be able to have a life in the Mediterranean and own an abode in nature by the beach. It has changed so much for me and I guess it truly gave me that specific sense of abundance.
