Destination Puglia, Italy.
Set upon the Mediterranean coastline of Puglia, Sanne Vloet and Max Ando-Hirsh exchanged their vows in a seventeenth century farmhouse on a summer afternoon in Italy.
The natural landscape, surrounded by olive trees and undulating hills, created an intimate venue for family and friends to celebrate the special occasion at Masseria Calderisi Luxury Boutique Hotel.
Sanne’s bridesmaids; Amanda, Sami, Daphne, Julia, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Tiana and Maud were styled to suit the aesthetic, wearing the highly anticipated La Lune in Lemon.

“Max and I met in 2017 at a rooftop party in NYC, we were introduced to each other by someone we both worked with and immediately when we shook hands we had an instant connection. Max's opening sentence was “I know Dutch People'', and I responded: “Oh cool!” He asked me on a first date to go eat dumplings in this little restaurant in China Town in NYC. We had so much fun that night and quickly started dating. We lived together in the city and moved to Williamsburg and shortly after L.A.
In February 2022, 5 years later we were on a business trip in New York and it was the same week as Valentine's Day Max suggested we should go back to the dumpling spot where we had our first date. We redid our whole first date, the dumpling spot, went to a cocktail bar, and walked around to my old apartment in West Village. It was slightly raining and before I knew what was happening, he went down on his knees in front of my old apartment where we had our first kiss and asked “Will you marry me?”. It was the most perfect and beautiful moment that we celebrated later that evening in a karaoke bar with friends!”

“We knew we wanted to host our wedding in Europe because I am from the Netherlands and Max was born in Paris so it has a special place in our heart. We were looking for a warm and sunny destination.
My journey to Puglia began about three years ago when I started a one month internship at Bro's, a Michelin-starred restaurant, to cook. It was during this time that I fell in love with the region! Puglia has a rustic charm and feel; more rustic from the rest of Italy. We realized it had the perfect weather, atmosphere, and incredible cuisine, which was the ideal choice for us. Most of our guests had not traveled to this area before either.
During our wedding, our top priority was to break away from tradition and create an atmosphere that felt less like a conventional wedding and more like a vacation shared with our friends and family while celebrating love.
The food and cuisine played a big role during our wedding, we wanted everyone to be able to experience the local cuisine to the fullest as food plays a big role in our lives. The welcome dinner was an ‘Apulian Street Food’ night with food stands over the piazza with a cheese stand, charcuterie, all sorts of grilled vegetables, meat, local fish and bread.
For our wedding cake, the Michelin star chef Isabella Poti, who I trained with, created our own Nekohama Matcha Cake for us. For the first time ever the whole wedding cake was eaten by every guest! As a little wedding favor we gave every guest a little bottle of local olive oil from the garden.
Our ceremony was officiated by our dear mutual friend, Jason Gorskie, in between the ancient olive tree grove. The wedding style was exactly my personal aesthetic; beautiful, sophisticated, marked by simplicity and purity. Taking inspiration from Japanese Ikebana, I chose a floral and decorative theme that highlighted the elegance of minimalistic arrangements, showcasing delicate stems instead of big bouquets. I wanted my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets to feel fun and loose and not too ‘overdone’.

“My dress was a customised creation from Pronovias. I wanted to go for something with simplicity, sophistication, and elegance. The veil had it’s moment with delicate, embroidered flowers along the edge. I combined this with jewelry from my dear friend Logan Hollowell, her pieces are incredible and have magical stones.
As for my bridesmaids, I had a clear vision of what I wanted before I reached out to Shona Joy. While researching I found a beautiful photo of the Masseria Calderisi (our wedding venue) with a white room, blue door and a tray with lemons. I knew I wanted something different, a colour that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. When I saw that photo I knew pastel yellow was the move, all the colors in the wedding design were very neutral so it was fun to add a splash of colour with the girls. The pastel yellow represented the lemons and just matched perfectly with the setting. The girls felt absolutely amazing in it and we kept joking that the eight bridesmaids made my own personal lemon tree.”
