Perched on the rugged Sicilian coastline, Tonnara di Scopello emerged as the ideal backdrop for a love story that began during the uncertainty of the global pandemic. What started with dates on FaceTime in San Francisco blossomed into an intimate celebration at a 13th century tuna fishing port turned apartment style hotel.
Nestled between dramatic limestone cliffs and the aquamarine Tyrrhenian Sea, this notable venue embodied the raw, elemental beauty of Sicily. Soft silver, blue-gray, and cream tones echoed the island's beauty — sun-bleached stones to shifting ocean hues. The bridal party wore pieces from our La Lune Collection in Silver to compliment the destination and unfold Tiffany’s vision.

We met on Hinge during peak covid. We had our first few dates over FaceTime before we finally decided to meet in-person. Being jaded by the dating scene and not really in the place to receive love at the time, I tried to cancel our first date last minute since I’d already made plans to meet with some friends at Dolores Park that afternoon. Luckily, Matt insisted on joining. Afterwards, he and I went to get dinner, and the rest is history. We ended up quarantining together when San Francisco went back into lockdown a few weeks later, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.

We perused a bunch of venues around San Francisco and wine country, but the pricing was all insane. When we started researching spots abroad, we found that we could book a 2-3 day event for about the same price as one evening in San Francisco, which clinched our decision. We actually first saw our venue, Tonnara di Scopello–a historic tuna fishing factory in Sicily–on Instagram, and immediately requested to book sight unseen. We already knew it would be perfect. As for the wedding details, such as florals, food, and décor, we worked mostly with local Sicily-based vendors. We wanted to let the beautiful natural surroundings speak for themselves, so we kept the décor pared down, with muted tones and interesting textures. We integrated colors already around us, inspired by the surrounding architecture and ocean waves: silver, blue-gray, whites/creams, sage, with the softest hint of rose.

At first I was in love with the idea of having my bridesmaids all wear white, but after further thought, I was worried we’d all blend in too much. My concern was that every other color (yellow, black, rose, sage, navy) all already felt overdone. When I saw that Shona Joy had a brand new silver color way, it truly felt like fate! Not only did silver feel fresh, but it came in a variety of dress styles, so my bridesmaids could pick and choose which dresses they felt best suited their body types. I also loved the idea of my bridesmaids wearing Shona Joy, which I’d worn for my civil ceremony.
For the day of, I wore a custom Vivienne Westwood via Loho Bride. I tried on lots of dresses, and was especially fond of Danielle Frankel, Newhite, Dana Harel and Katherine Tash, but just kept going back to Vivienne Westwood. Her wedding designs are classic yet unique, and her corsetry is unmatched! In terms of accessories, I kept it simple with an ornamental needlework veil by Ofrenda Studio and pearl earrings by Stephanie Gottlieb. Matt got a custom-made black pant and cream jacket tuxedo (with a wide shawl lapel!) from an incredible bespoke tailoring company in San Francisco called Tailor’s Keep - the guys who work there are all so stylish and give so many tips on cut, fabric, fit, and accessories. We can’t recommend them enough. His tuxedo shirt with a hidden button placket was from Eton, and for shoes, he wore tassel loafers by Alden. A silver and onyx signet ring matched his silver and onyx cufflinks completed the look.

For the after-party in the cave, I changed into a short mini dress with a big bow on it by Chinese-American designer Sandy Liang. She has an incredible wedding collection, and this dress felt playful, feminine, and most importantly, easy to dance in.
